Whistlebrook is a privately owned business with offices in Tring in Hertfordshire and St Ives in Cambridgeshire. With over ninety implementations of our products, our customers include challenger banks, specialist lenders, private banks and a majority of the UK building societies.

The opportunity

Our research and development teams are constantly evolving our product portfolio either to include new functional innovations or to accommodate changes in regulatory standards or legislation.

As an apprentice you’ll be working within our development team to build and maintain features within our products using the Microsoft .NET framework and Microsoft SQL Server stack.

To accelerate your familiarisation with products that you will be developing, and eventually designing, you will gain experience in providing customer software support.

As your experience develops you will have the opportunity to specify and eventually architect new features.

Your capabilities in C#, WPF, .NET framework, T-SQL, Microsoft SQL Server stack and Visual Studio will all be developed and enhanced.

About you

You will be comfortable in applying maths in both data and algorithms and you’ll have an understanding of both waterfall and agile software development methodologies within a software development life cycle.

You can demonstrate an ability to problem solve, use your initiative, take responsibility, be organised and work independently.

You will be a good communicator and like working in teams with like-minded individuals.

    Applications will also be considered from graduates with non-computer science degrees looking for an apprenticeship route to a development career.

What qualifications will I gain?

As part of the Level 4 Software Developer you’ll be registered as a member with the British Computer Society and be on a fast track to a range of industry recognised qualifications, in demand by employers including:

  • Level 4 Apprenticeship (equivalent to a Foundation Degree)
  • BCS Systems Development Essentials
  • C++
  • PHP
